my first 31 years were spent around the dallas/fort worth area of texas with many generations of extended family. then we moved to colorado springs and had no extended family here. next year we will be moving to thailand. it wasn’t until i was asked how often we would be coming home from thailand that i realized home to me is colorado springs – not texas. i think there is something about spending my thirties away from family, developing friendships that are really life-lines and for the first time in my life being independent from my extended family and much more dependent on my husband and kids that has caused me to really feel that I’m at home in this town – my adopted home town.
